My new "plan B" is to become the Baroness Inchdrewer instead of a nun.

Sotheby's International Realty: Inchdrewer Castle, Banff, Aberdeenshire

Apparently we can now get JAOS via iTunes. I'm not saying that I *personally* want to read JAOS via iTunes, but if one were so inclined, it is feasible:

The Journal of the American Oriental Society on iTunes

The academic satire reviewed here, on the other hand, I'm very much looking forward to reading and have enthusiastically downloaded from iTunes to take on my travels this summer:

This book should have been entitled "The Khazar of Oz":

For God's Sake: An Atheist, a Jew, a Christian and a Muslim Debate Religion in Australia

One Three* links on gender and various forms of writing:

Intimidation and Resistance: Imagining Gender in Cairene Graffiti

Two links on genizot:

The Dome of Treasure

Scribble in Arabic and Hebrew

This article in Slate looks at recent popular histories of the American Revolution and asks why they ignore the most current scholarship. I'd suggest that at least in part it has to do with the fact that scholars who write popular works are looked down upon, and so there is a separation between the production and dissemination of knowledge:

Revolutionary Blues

*There were three. Two disappeared.
